Keystone Investigative Services, Inc. is proud to announce that our founder and lead investigator, Kelly Cory, was elected as the 2022-2023 Vice President of NCISS (The National Council of Investigative and Security Services) at the annual meeting this month in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cory was first appointed as a Regional Director of the council in 2019 and was re-elected to that position. Over the coming year as Vice President, she will be dedicated to supporting the mission of the current incoming president Tina Thomas, and the board, providing leadership to members and legislative advocacy for the investigative profession.
“Serving on the board of NCISS is an honor and responsibility I do not take lightly. I am committed to strengthening the investigative profession so that we can help protect society, and maintain our ability to work in this rewarding role for generations to come,” says Cory.
NCISS takes on the important role of monitoring legislation proposed by lawmakers on the national level that could have an unintended direct impact on how legal investigators and security professionals conduct their work. It is vital to create laws that protect people’s privacy and helps prevent data breaches. We recognize and encourage such legislation when it is introduced in Congress. The way that laws get written, however, can inadvertently exclude access to data even with a legitimate reason/purpose, that of which to conduct a lawful investigation. NCISS helps educate law makes on the importance roles of investigators.
Professional investigators are essential for matters such as elder abuse, pre-employment background checks, missing children, identity theft, online scams, and insurance fraud. There is a vital need for investigators in our society, and legislation created without understanding of this role adversely affects investigators’ ability to protect and assist people in these ways.
NCISS represents a united front dedicated to preserving the integrity and ability of the security and investigative professions to continue their crucial and necessary work.
Kelly Cory, President/CEO of Keystone Investigative Services, Inc. was also awarded the 2022 Vinson Award for outstanding leadership, dedication and service to the National Council of Investigative and Security Services. Ms. Cory stated, “I’m honored to receive such a prestigious award and will continue doing all that I can to help support and uplift our profession. Thank you for this special recognition.”
